NAIA Recognizes Former HT Coach
Former HT athletic director and coach of nearly every sport the University fields, Mr. James Wilson, has been elected to the NAIA Hall of Fame in the Meritorious Service Category. Coach Wilson will be inducted at the NAIA National Convention, April 15-19, 2011, in Kansas City.

Miss HT Competes for Black College Queen Title
The 2010 National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., Competition of Black College Queens, celebrates its 25th “Silver” Anniversary of the Annual Hall of Fame Weekend. Events will begin September 23-26, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia where Miss HT will compete for the Black College Queen title.

Huston-Tillotson University is pleased to announce the celebration of our 135th anniversary, October 21 – 24, 2010. The celebration will consist of many events, including a concert by the renowned HT alumna and jazz vocalist, Carmen Bradford. The concert will take place Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. on October 22, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Austin.

The Huston-Tillotson University International Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Affairs challenge 135 alumni of this historic University to give $135 or more to the 135th Anniversary Celebration. This is another opportunity to invest in the legacy of our alma mater.

Houston Chapter Enters UNCF 5K Walk
The Houston Alumni Chapter is making plans to participate in the United Negro College Fund's (UNCF) 5K Walk, Saturday September 11, 2010 at Tom Bass Park. Registration and activities begin at 7a.m. with a Young Genius Playground and Alumni Village where UNCF supported schools will be on display. The 5k Walk begins at 8a.m. followed by the Celebration Stage from 9:30 - 11a.m. Click here for instructions on how to join the Huston-Tillotson Houston Alumni Team (enter Huston for team name) or to make a donation.
Sing in the 135 Voice Choir
Come be a part of the historic 135-Voice Choir commemorating the 135th anniversary of our alma mater. There are still spaces available. Your help is needed to make this celebration another momentous HT occasion. The first rehearsal was held Wednesday, July 28th in San Antonio, TX. Legacy Books Available
Copies of "The Huston-Tillotson University Legacy, A Historical Treasure," are still available. The project was inspired by the Huston-Tillotson University International Alumni Association. The publication was prepared by Dr. Wilhelmenia E. Perry '44 and the late Mr. August N. Swain '51. The book was completed in 2007. The book pinpoints persons, moments, events, and values that shaped the images of HT and defines the distinctive identity of the institution, whose roots go back to the founding of Samuel Huston and Tillotson Colleges in the mid-1870's.
